Welcome to Vision MOVE

Why MOVE:
Most people when they hear about the Vision MOVE always ask the question why move from such a beautiful location right on the shores of the Indian Ocean? Well, if comfort and prestige was our motivation for ministry in the Ukunda area we would have stayed at our current location and never move at all, but praise God it is not.
  • The motivation to move first and fore most is to fulfill our vision of Edifying People to Glorify God. We long to see the people who attend the WOLFC equipped to reach our community of Ukunda with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that for this to happen more effectively the church need to be visible in community of Ukunda. At the moment that is not the case.
  • Secondly majority of the people who attend our church live not at the beach but in the Ukunda area. Most people in our church commute for up to an hour to get to the church mostly because they have to wait a long  time for the public commuter vans plying the Beach Roads.
  • Most importantly we believe that if Jesus left the comforts of heaven to reach us where we were then it's not uncharacteristic of us His followers to leave the comforts of the Beach Front atmosphere and all the prestige it carries to go to the people of Ukunda where they are at.

Pastor's Message

In a church like ours there might be a tendency to look at giving with a negative eye and communicate it to the congregation with a pinch of fear and guilt.

Here are some of  the things that have stood out as I have studied....

First, giving is a spiritual discipline that is not optional for believers. We are all called to participate in giving as the Lord has blessed us and to give with a cheerful spirit, not out of obligation but out of our love for God.

In OT, one of the ways God ensured that His people were consistent in communion and fellowship with Him was through giving, which involved sacrifice of animals, birds, flour, oils, drinks, wine, money etc

For those of you who have time (and I hope it is all of us) please read Numbers 28 and 29. In these chapters the people of God were to go to Him with their sacrifice daily (28:3-8), weekly (28:9-10), monthly (28:11-15), and yearly (28:16—29:38).

Let me do the math for us to see what they gave every year: the priests sacrificed 113 bulls, 32 rams, and 1086 lambs and offered more than a ton of flour and a thousand bottles of oil and wine. The question is, are we willing to give this much, or are these just numbers in a Holy Book?

As I was reading, this helped me to think more about how God is not only concerned with preserving His work through our giving (which is what we heavily bend towards in fund-raising) but also and maybe more importantly, in preserving our RELATIONSHIP with Him. When the Israelites made the journey to the temple daily, weekly, monthly and yearly they were acknowledging that their lives and possessions did not belong to them but to God.

There are two phrases that caught my attention and were very convicting as I looked at the way I give to the Lord: An aroma pleasing to the Lord “and “without defect. These were the two things that were to characterize their sacrifices.  

In summary I/we have to ask the question- Am I giving God the best or am I giving Him a sacrifice without the pleasing aroma and full of defects?

Application:
One: I am guilty of focusing my giving to the advancing of the kingdom of God without cultivating my relationship with Him.  What I need to do is to learn not to do one at the expense of the other. To understand that my effectiveness in building and advancing the kingdom of God will depend heavily on my relationship with Him for apart from Him I can do nothing.

The kingdom of God cannot be advanced by giving only and it cannot be advanced by relating to God without engaging the world – both have to be done for us to be successful – giving for advancing the Kingdom and giving as a way to move towards God with all that we have.

Two: I/we need to focus on my/our relationship with God and my/our passion to see His kingdom advanced in Ukunda by looking at giving as an act of worship and a movement towards Him.

My giving should be a reflection of my relationship with God and not my relationship with my wallet – which usually is the case. It MUST be without defect and an Aroma pleasing to the Lord!

My giving should not be informed by what others are giving but by what the Lord has given me. I should not compare myself with others and I do not need a pace-setter in my giving because God has blessed us differently. Some are blessed to give bulls, others goats, others oil and flour etc.

We are to give out of the abundance of what God has given US not what He has given someone else.

So I pray as we give towards Vision Move/the church it will be a giving that is characterized by two things: An Aroma Pleasing to the Lord and Without Defect.

May the Lord bless us and help us to keep this vision that He has put in our hearts ALIVE and about HIM.

Simplifying Vision Move

This is a Vision to MOVE our Church to a place where we can have maximum presence and impact for the People of Ukunda and its environs, a visible and formidable presence for Jesus in a place where for decades the devil has placed his strongholds.


A vision to see people delivered from the bondage of religion and its legalistic intuition and freed by the power of God to Worship GOD and JESUS His son in Spirit and in truth.

O what a lovely day that will be!

A Vision not merely to go to a church building but to be the Church of Jesus to the people of Ukunda I cannot wait for that Day!
May the Lord quicken our pockets, bless our income and soften our hearts to give sacrificially to this Vision to see his Church not merely MOVE to Ukunda but MOVE the hearts of many to accept JESUS and live for Him passionately!

Giving Battalions

Vision MOVE's desire is to get all the members of our church, friends and well wishers to be able to give according to how the Lord enables and leads them. Because of this the committee came up with different categories of giving that we called the battalions: The following is the battalion divisions:

CLAY BATTALION:
This is  the people who are able and willing to give Ksh.200 daily, Ksh.1400 weekly or Ksh.6000 Monthly. This group is led by Mr. Elijah Musili.

BRASS BATTALION:

This is  the people who are able and willing to give Ksh.100 daily, Ksh.700 weekly or Ksh.3000 Monthly. This group is led by

BRONZE BATTALION:
This is  the people who are able and willing to give Ksh.50 daily, Ksh.350 weekly or Ksh.1500 Monthly. This group is led by

SILVER BATTALION:

This is  the people who are able and willing to give Ksh.20 daily, Ksh.140 weekly or Ksh.600 Monthly. This group is led by

GOLD BATTALION:
This is  the people who are able and willing to give Ksh.10 daily, Ksh.70 weekly or Ksh.300 Monthly. This group is led by Miss Florence Munke

DIAMOND BATTALION:

This is  the people who are able and willing to give any services during this whole process and progress of Vision MOVE. This Group is led by Charles Kamau.

Pastor's Message

On May 18th 2008 I preached my second sermon as the official pastor of the Word of Life Fellowship Church! It was a two week series detailed with what I felt was the direction that the Lord gave me to lead our church into. And I still believe it is! In the 2 week series I outlined very clearly what the mission and vision of our church was.
Our Mission: Leading God’s people to love and serve Jesus as they serve one another and reach out to the world to make Christ known for His Glory and Honor! I.e. edifying men to glorify God.
Our Vision was then and still is:
To make Word of Life Fellowship Church a place:
  1. Where God’s people can be equipped to not only love God but follow the heart of Jesus in loving each other and the world around us.
  2. Where God's people will participate in what God is doing around the corner and around the World!
  3. Where God’s people will use every means possible to make sure that the Gospel of Christ is spread effectively throughout this region and beyond. 

When I came here to the Word of Life Fellowship Church I was asked to lead the church into making it independent from Word of Life Ministry (WOLM) in order for both the church and the ministry to fully do what the Lord had put them here to do. WOLM to do Youth Ministry and the church to continue to minister to the needs of the people in the community.

I had a crazy idea then that I could not share with the church because I was new and no one knew me. Today over two years later I feel confident of not only wise timing but the Lord’s leading to do this – that crazy idea never died! The idea was to take the church where the people are! This idea is what we have dubbed the Vision MOVE!

 Recently this dream was awakened by several issues:
  1. For the mission of the church to be a blessing to the community to come true the church must be in the community
  2. To ensure that most of the Ukunda community is reached by the blessing of the ministry of the unadulterated Word of God the Church must be in Ukunda.
  3. The time is now - we cannot live with the assumption that future Word of life leadership will always be favorable to the church as the current ones are!
  4. To operate as a normal church with all the midweek meetings and the Bible Studies and kids weekend programs we must be where the people are!

I pray that we will all embrace this vision to move the church to the community of Ukunda and make a statement in this area that is infiltrated by Islam and false teaching that there are Christians who are ready to love their neighbors, to preach and to live by the eternal Word of Life! 

You can do this by praying a lot for: 
  1. The focus of the church leadership to remain the preaching and the teaching of the Gospel to its members and not the erection of a building; 
  2. The Development Committee led by Johnson Kithendu and Leah Kamau, as they labor tirelessly to carry the majority weight of Vision MOVE planning so that the Church leadership can focus on the ministry of teaching and preaching the Gospel.
  3. Men, women and children - both from World of Life and everywhere else - to be MOVED by God to give generously to this vision!

And...Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20 - 21

We have LAND!

We are glad to announce that after a long and prayerful time of searching for the ideal land to call the future home of WOLFC we finally found THE ONE! Fred Munyithia and Charles Kamau who led the search team must be commended for a job well done! 

It is a 3 acre land in KONA YA MUSA on the shamu road 800M from the main Mombasa Tanzania highway! The owners are asking for 3 million and we trust God to raise this amount through the Church and well wishers in record one year! PRAISE GOD with us for providing this land for us and PRAY hard that His people will be moved to give sacrificially!
